I think you feeling embarrassed about running through Kermit and Elmo sex scenes, while funny, is maybe vecause you know thats pretty weird and others would probably judge you for it haha That can be detrimental if its too critical or not critical enough. Since we're social creatures we constantly self criticize and shift behavior accordingly. Theres not much research into these feelings, but they may be related if they're a means of actually mitigating those behaviors by way of simulating its danger. Or when people in high places sometimes have an urge to jump even when they're not intending suicide. Kind of like when people who are driving near cliffs have some brief intrusive scenarios where they think about driving over. The embarrassment may have religious underpinnings, but I think this is just an adaptive social technique.
